讲述了主人公武状元苏灿打压贩卖大烟的天门教时意外受伤失忆，流落街头沦为乞丐苏乞儿，在做乞丐的时候被金枝和小果母女收留。因为鸦片烟膏泄露，小果被天门教抓走，苏乞儿为了救照顾自己的小女孩小果，破坏了天门教的阴谋，最终与官府一起铲除天门教的故事。。二战结束后，曾在法国参加作战的印第安土著Jimmy Picard（本尼西奥·德尔·托罗 Benicio Del Toro 饰）住进了堪萨托皮卡军事医院。这家医院以专业医治脑病而著称。Jimmy Picard罹患多种疾病：眩晕、短暂失明、失去听觉……由于找不到任何器质性病变，医生将其诊断为精神分裂症。但医院仍然决定请法国专门研究北美印第安文化的人种学家及心理学家Georges Devereux（马修·阿马立克 Mathieu Amalric 饰）进行会诊。。Documentary filmmaker Jan Sikl came across several hours of footage showing the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in private film archives. 53 years later, historical memory awakens from a long slumber with this reconstruction of the occupation, a cinematic adventure of a truly archeological nature.。
